For the third semester of undergraduate programmes, Readings
on Indian Literatures (ENG3A05) is the required textbook for
English Common Course. Indian literature covers a wide range
of works that date back to many centuries and include epic
poetry, religious texts, plays, novels, and short stories, among
other genres. It is one of the most linguistically diverse literary
traditions in the world because these works are written in
numerous regional languages, including tribal languages.
Readings on Indian Literature are divided into four modules
and include plays, short films, prose narratives, poems, and
short stories. All of the texts in this textbook are either written
in English or have been translated from different Indian
languages, including tribal languages. The book covers various
themes and subjects in the Indian context as well.
