This course services to improve the bilingual proficiency of the learners by introducing them to the basic theoretical concepts of translation along with emphasis of practical exercises.

After the completion of the course students should be able to:-● Correlate the various phases of the evolution of Indian writing in English.● Delineate the thematic concerns, genres and trends of Indian writing in English .● Recognize the pluralistic aspects of Indian culture and identity.● Determine how and why Indian literature emerged as a distinct field of study.● Identify the development of history of Indian English literature from its beginning to thepresent day.● Interpret the works of great writers of Indian writers in English.● Demonstrate, through discussion and writing, an understanding of significant cultural andsocietal issues presented in Indian English literature.

Course Objectives To make students familiar with the basic theories of translation and to enable them to translatedifferent types of texts from their mother tongue to English and vice versa.11 To make the study of language inter-lingual by initiating the students to translate textsfrom regional languages into English and from English into regional languages. To equip the students for the profession of translator in diverse fields by impartingtraining in translation.Learning Outcomes The students will have an overall view of basic theories of translation. They will have acquired the skill in translating various kinds of texts.
